Overview
Deformed steel reinforcing bar is a ribbed long product used as reinforcement in concrete. The purchase order must identify one governing product standard and its grade or ductility designation. ASTM A615/A615M, BS 4449, and GB/T 1499.2 use different grade systems, marking rules, and test requirements, so their designations should not be treated as automatic equivalents. Buyers should state nominal diameter, straight length or coil form, quantity, application, any seismic or weldability requirement, bar marking, bundle limits, and the required inspection documents. Diameter and length ranges remain order-specific until the supplying route is checked. Project engineers remain responsible for design grade selection, lap and anchorage rules, bending schedules, and acceptance criteria. Coating, fabrication, and special inspection requests need separate project clauses and technical review.
